Welcome to the website for the proposed redevelopment of the former Stamping Plant site, Dagenham
Listening to the local community
Peabody, one of the largest housing associations in London, has purchased the former Stamping Plant site, Dagenham. We are seeking to deliver 3,502 new homes here, of which 1,550 will be affordable.
In the Spring of 2021, we undertook a series of engagement activities including online activities that attracted thousands to our website, door knocking in the local area and conversations with many different community groups including youth organisations and faith representatives.
The comments and views of the local community have directly shaped thedevelopment of our emerging masterplan design for the site.
From our initial engagement we found that people would like to see the following delivered as part of our plans:
A public park
with play space
Local shops and
Places to meet
friends and family
A sustainable and
We are preparing to submit an outline planning application to Barking and Dagenham Council in September. This will establish the general principles of how many homes can be delivered, the maximum heights of buildings and the location of open spaces within the neighbourhood.
After further public consultation the next stage would be to submit a detailed planning application which sets out matters such as the scale and external appearance of buildings, the number of homes to be delivered in each phase, and access arrangements.
